Slow Jack Bio

Drawing their inspiration from their surrounds, the music and lyrics speak of abundance, hardship and everyday life that affect us all. Having met on campus while they studied music, the initial duo that started out three years ago has grown into an ensemble of some of the most talented musicians in Cape Town to render a rare and seldom seen chemistry on stage. Professional musicians without the proverbial day job, they share a special passion to be as good as they possibly could be and their inventive approach to music is a special fusion of pop and rock that does not mirror the ordinary.

Since its inception, Slow Jack caught on like wildfire, soon ticking off the boxes off success, one after the other. Their debut single “Love To Dream” reached number 1 on 5FM’s Top 40 Chart and was listed by Texx&The City as one of the Top 20 releases of 2016. This was followed by headlining slots at major festivals, including;

  • Up The Creek
  • Rocking The Daisies
  • Unplugged62
  • River Republic
  • Malkop
  • STRAB (Mozambique).

The band has also hosted numerous “pop-up” events including Roodebloem Studios & even a sold-out show on the 26th floor of the Media24 building in Cape Town. Their biggest event to date was at Kirstenbosch Garden’s prestigious New Year’s Eve concert, sharing the bill with South African legend Johnny Clegg to a max-capacity audience of 6000. It was at this event that Slow Jack filmed a music video for their single “Ode To The Future”. With this release, they were fortunate enough to work with John Paterno, an LA-Based Grammy award-winning producer & engineer. When the single debuted on 5FM’s Hamman Time, Radio DJ Nick Hamman quoted it to be “like a dog on heat!”.

Chances are good that you’ll leave as a fan if you’re not one yet and as Jack once said: “Get out of the race. There is no need to rush. The chords before tomorrow shape our future remembrance of the past”.
